Who: Doveman from NYC. What: Thomas Bartlett’s project in which he is the primary songwriter and singer is Doveman. Known for his collaborations with artists such as The Swell Season (he opened for them last night at Massey Hall), Antony & the Johnsons, David Byrne, and Bebel Gilberto, Doveman’s newest offering (The Conformist, out on Brassland) is beautifully sombre and subdued, showcasing delicately crafted songs that will whist you into daydreams. The new record features The National members Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner and Bryan Devendorf; Nico Muhly; longtime Doveman member Sam Amidon; a string section; and surprising guest vocal performances, with turns by Martha Wainwright, Matt Berninger (The National) and Norah Jones. Good company indeed. Song: The Best Thing. Want more, here’s Breathing Out again. If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!Filed under: Mobile Comments: None
