Who: Leif Vollebekk from Montreal.
What: I went out to catch some music last night and I came upon Montreal singer-songwriter Leif Vollebekk’s set at Supermarket. He’s the newest singee to Nevado Records (home to top Canadian talent Bahamas, Fox Jaws, Yukon Blonde and The Paint Movement), his debut to hit shelves on January 19th, 2009. He performed a stripped down solo set to an eager crowd, showcasing his multi-instrumentality, trading guitar for violin, looping pedals and harmonica. Reminding me of an Andrew Bird performance not only in the instrumentation, but the way Leif croons his heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics. Great show and introduction for me, keeping an eye on this one.
