ODESZA (Harrison Mills, Clayton Knight) has today unveiled their new music video for “Line Of Sight (feat. WYNNE & Mansionair)”, a stylish, visually striking sci-fi tale shot in Hawaii.
With its vivid juxtaposition of sci-fi elements strewn amidst a tropical paradise, “Line Of Sight” aligns ODESZA’s epic, infectious tune with the story of an unlikely bond between a boy and a robot. Directed by Daniel Brown with live-action production company UNHEARD/OF, the young protagonist’s ingenuity and sense of survival in the most isolated of sanctuaries pairs as a beautiful visual accompaniment to the already cinematic track.
“We were really blown away by Dan’s work for our “It’s Only” music video a few years ago. When it came time to find a director for “Line Of Sight” we wanted someone who could represent the subtle sadness of the track yet pair it with feelings of hope and wonder,” says Knight and Mills. “We loved Dan’s sense of imagination and idea of telling a story about friendship through a sci-fi lens.”
It’s been another great year for new music, 2014 did not disappoint at all. This post is always my favourite one to put together, the problem is always trying to keep the number of songs down. I settled on 50 tracks (listed here in playlist order, not a ranking) that rocked my year, take a look below and agree, disagree, discover of just hit play. As usual, I did my best to make these playlists on soundcloud, spotify, rdio, youtube and this year on Dropmark (which I use for saving videos). For those who like to watch your playlists, try out my collection.

Saying that I’m obsessed with ODESZA‘s new record, ‘In Return,’ would be an understatement. The whole album has been on constant repeat, but lead single “Say My Name (feat. Zyra)” (and its collection of remixes) has me swooning.
The official music video was released a few weeks ago, directed by Ian Pons Jewell and starring Stephanie Hunt as a commercial actress caught between reality and imagination. “Say My Name (feat. Zyra)” is one of my favourite tunes this fall, without a doubt.
Both Beat Connection and Odesza were tipped as the electro-poppy trio & duo to watch last year after releasing their debut albums within one month of each other to nodding heads and commendable appraisals. It seems fitting that they were set to collaborate from the start! This particular remix is a true testament to having something solid in place to work with right from the get go. Both versions are sublime with Odesza speeding up the pace and generously lathering it with a synthy texture. I hand over both for you to decide which beat you connect to more (I sense some ear-boomerang-ing back and forth between the two for a while).
